Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler has been medically cleared to play and will start Sunday against the Cleveland Browns, coach Marc Trestman said Thursday, cbssports.com reported.

Cutler, who participated fully in practice Thursday and took all the first-team reps, has missed the last four games because of a high left ankle sprain he suffered Nov. 10. He acknowledged the job McCown did filling in for him.

The Bears on Wednesday put Cutler through a workout that tested his ankle. Trestman said the session required Cutler to climb the pocket and move suddenly.

The Bears decided Thursday morning to clear Cutler to play after they gauged how his ankle responded to the workout.

Cutler will start ahead of backup Josh McCown, who was named NFC Offensive Player of the Week for his performance in Monday night's 45-28 win over the Cowboys. He is in the final year of his contract and the Bears will have to decide this offseason whether to re-up him at a steep price, or to go in a different direction. If it's the latter – and there was a report Wednesday that that could be the case – the team could turn to McCown in the short term while they find and groom their next young franchise quarterback.

Although it is not sure whether Cutler will play for the Chicago Bears or not, fans are just welcoming his return on Sunday vs. the Browns. www.bearsmore.com counts the sales volume of the Jay Cutler jerseys which is 61,302. They seem to celebrate Jay’s return in advance and look forward to his great performance.
